A quick tutorial: How to SenoLab

Written by Valerie Morris | Feb 16, 2024

You probably have heard of SenoLab, right? It consists of our novel handheld device, the SenoApp and several applications for you to purchase. But how exactly does it work? In this article we will tell you how to use SenoLab and what’s important when taking measurements with the versatile device.

Measurement results in 4 simple steps

  1. Connect your SenoCorder to SenoApp via Bluetooth by opening the app on your smartphone and selecting your device from all available devices.
  2. Calibrate your device to ensure that your measurement results will be accurate.
  3. Select the application you would like to use, e.g. cotton and polyester quantification for yarns to determine the amount of polyester in cotton and polyester yarn.
  4. Take your measurements and review the results in SenoApp.

A quick summary of what’s important

  • Make sure that your smartphone has a working Bluetooth connection and that it is activated.
  • Ensure that the SenoCorder is charged (light appears green) and won’t run out of battery during the measurement process.
  • When placing the SenoCorder on your sample, make sure that it is placed firmly and won't move during the measurement. It is also possible to place the sample on the SenoCorder if it is small enough. More specific information for each application can be found in SenoApp.
  • Take at least two measurements of the same sample to ensure accuracy and reliability of results, move the SenoCorder around on your sample in between the measurements.

Application examples

Cotton-Polyester Quantification: Quantify the percentage of polyester in cotton and polyester blended yarn and textiles - one of the most common blends.

Silk identification: Determine whether a textile is made of 100% pure silk or not. This is an important feature to detect fraudulent textiles and protect brands and consumers.

THC levels in Cannabis: Quantify the amount of THC in dried cannabis flowers or ground cannabis to confirm quality standards, adhere to government regulations, and ensure consumer safety.
