Spending 6 months at Senorics: Insights from our newest intern

Written by Valerie Morris | Aug 27, 2023

Ibrahim moved to Germany from Ghana in 2o22. He is pursuing a master’s degree in international management at the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTW Dresden). The program includes a study abroad component and an optional internship component. After spending a semester in France, Ibrahim decided to pursue the internship to gain industry experience and prepare himself for his future career. This is why he joined Senorics in May 2023 as a sales and marketing intern.

In this article, Ibrahim gives insight into his time at Senorics: his tasks, his learnings, and how he experienced the corporate culture.

Why did you decide for Senorics over other companies?

“I chose Senorics because I found their products and services very interesting, and I was curious about the technology. A few minutes into browsing the company’s website for the first time, I was convinced that Senorics has a technology that will shape the world of tomorrow and I wanted to be part of this story. From a more practical point of view, Senorics was one of the few companies which didn’t require a high level of German language proficiency, which was a big advantage over other jobs as well.”

What department do you mainly support and what are your tasks?

“I’m mainly supporting the sales and marketing department. I’m involved in conducting competitor analysis, emailing and calling potential customers, scheduling and performing live demos, and answering customer queries. I also support the marketing department with pictures and videos for social media campaigns.”

How is the internship benefiting you in your professional development?

“I have already learned a lot during this internship, and it’s really boosting my confidence and my professional development. I have gained a new perspective on sales and marketing and feel like I’m now well equipped with hands-on experience of how to successfully take a potential customer through the whole sales process. On this note, I would like to thank Hannah, Sunny, Katharina, and Martin for the wealth of knowledge and experience they shared with me during the past few months.”

What is your biggest learning from your time at Senorics so far?

“My biggest takeaway from Senorics is that team effort is the best guarantee for success in sales and marketing. As a team we all complement each other with our unique sets of qualities, which helps us achieve our goals. Working with the sales and marketing team solidified my long-held belief in the mantra ’there is no I in team’.”

How do you experience the corporate culture at Senorics?

“The flat organizational structure at Senorics creates a pleasant working atmosphere, which fosters collaboration and creativity. I never thought I would be in a workplace where I could call my boss by their first name and have the flexibility to choose my working hours. I can approach any of my colleague when I needed support, and they are always happy to help. I had the pleasure of spending some time with the production team and assembling a device by myself. That was really a great experience.”

What is your favorite use case?

“I’m torn between textile and milk analysis, but I am more inclined towards the textile analysis use case. I am passionate about environmental sustainability, and I believe the SenoLab can play a big role in creating a more sustainable textile and garment industry. I would also love to see our chip integrated into smart home appliances in the future, to help consumers wash, dry, and iron their clothes more efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way.”

We would like to thank Ibrahim for taking the time to answer our questions and for his great work over the past few months.
