In the past we have published several articles on the importance of mobile textile analysis for a range of industries. The possibilities it offers for textile recycling facilities, inspection authorities, textile wholesaler and similar establishments are broad.

Today we would like to take a closer look at the benefits it holds for yarn producers. Last year we started collaborating with Parkdale Mills Inc., one of the world’s largest spun yarn providers. Our valued partner Amber Kelly has taken the time to answer some questions about our current collaboration, their need for a mobile analysis solution and their experience with Senorics.

Can you tell us a little bit more about Parkdale Mills? What exactly do you do?

“Parkdale Inc. is the largest consumer of U.S. cotton. We are one of the largest providers of spun yarns in the world, producing over 8,000 tons of products per week at 29 manufacturing plants in the US, Mexico, and South America.

We produce yarn from 100% cotton, as well as blended yarn from cotton and manmade fibers such as rayon, nylon, and polyester. We incorporate recycled plastic that has been remanufactured into polyester fiber, into every production line that blends cotton and polyester.

We are very focused on earth friendly textiles. CICLO, which is used in the manufacturing of polyester fibers, is a product we heavily promote. It allows the polyester to degrade in a landfill at the same rate as cotton.”

How did you fist hear about Senorics and what made you decide to start a collaboration?

“We were challenged with being more innovative and one of our managers had found your website. He is no longer with our company, but we found some of his notes and followed up on it. We first spoke to Hannah, your Sales and Marketing Manager.

Ultimately, we decided to start a collaboration because we are looking for a more efficient way to test blend levels on the production floor.”

What are the advantages you saw in Senorics’ mobile solution?

“The advantages of Senorics’ mobile solution for us will be convenience and the time we save. It’s much less time consuming. Just a quick reading for any material we produce, and we have the answers we need immediately.”

What do you think how much money the use of Senorics’ technology will save you?

“The money saved by the use of this technology would likely be measured in the time that is saved. The hours that will be saved as we adjust the cotton and polyester in our blend lines will be significant. At any time in this factory, we have 11 blend lines running and at each blend line the mixture is different. Having Senorics’ device and using it to immediately calculate what the ratio is on the production floor, rather than utilizing the much more time-consuming test equipment, will be saving a lot of labor time.”

What would you tell other companies that are considering a collaboration with Senorics?

“I would tell them that Senorics is a wonderful company to work with. Their customer service is very quick with very informative answers to any questions you may have, along with a friendly attitude. The product they offer is simple and easy to use and would be a great asset for any textile company.”
